I snapped this photo on holiday in Ireland, it reminded me of the fab photographic exhibition I saw in London outside the Natural History museum. They’ve often got exhibitions on just outside the building, and guess what, they are free. Some of the great stuff happening in the design world at present - young designers are playing with modern themes and technology, but bringing in touches of nostalgia and using wit and ingenuity. Take a look at this idea from a young product designer in Russia, ‘The Sand Watch‘.
With the changing demographic of audiences and generation gap blurring, nostalgia meets modern quirk is a perfect way to capture wider audiences - if anybody’s seen anything in this bracket I’d love to see it.
If you’re like me and spend too much on clothes and love drooling over gorgeous fashion shoots then get on down to this exhibition at The National Portrait Gallery from Feb 15th onwards - a chance to see some spectacular creativity in large format instead of glossy mags… I’ll certainly be making the trip for a touch of inspiration/jealousy.
