The Jupiter Beard Off 2008… the results are in!

After almost four weeks’ wait, the Beard Off results were finally announced at a small, but nevertheless glitzy presentation last Friday afternoon.
Despite a hard-fought competition, there was only one real winner, Patrick Leverton, who produced an outstanding beard with perfect density and great coverage. Patrick walked away a happy man, winning a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale as first prize.
In second place was Lee Hyde, winning a Yorkie bar. Lee was closely followed by Adam Shaw and Joby Pridmore in joint third place, each receiving a packet of Fisherman’s Friends. Unfortunately Joby could not attend the ceremony, so his mentor and friend Jackie Oliver collected his certificate and prize on his behalf.
As every competition has its winners, it has to have a loser. In this case it was Paul Sandey who produced only a dozen chin hairs, all of which were almost invisible to the naked eye. Paul was a great sport however, and more than happy to collect the Beard Off 2008 wooden spoon.
Many thanks to everyone who got involved and made the competition such a success. In the end we raised £210 for the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre - a fantastic effort by all.

Adam wins joint third prize.
