Joined up thinking on writing and design
At Jupiter, we know that when writing and design come together seamlessly, some of the most beautiful and effective communication is created. Here in the copy team, writers’ group 26 has triggered our imagination with their inspiring design collaborations and love of all things visual…
26 promotes the connection between language and design by initiating partnerships between writers and designers. Their ‘Illuminating the Alphabet’ project saw 26 writers and 26 designers pair up to create posters exploring the DNA of letters in the alphabet. The work produced was displayed in the British Library and a lovely book made to showcase the inspiring results.
In another collaboration, 26 teamed together writers and designers for their ‘Local stories. Six words’ project. The writers produced a six-word story (tricky indeed!), to reflect a local environment within the UK - which was brought to life visually by a designer. Clever writing and fantastic design working together appeared on billboards everywhere across the nation.
What 26’s work shows, like here at Jupiter, is that when writing and design work in harmony the most inspiring and creative work follows. And that’s exactly what we all love to see.
