Pete McKee: Noel Gallagher’s favourite artist

Pete who? Born in 1966, he grew up on a Sheffield council estate and his working class roots provide a major source of inspiration for his poignant and often humorous paintings.
His emotive work captures a bit of northern chic - bringing to life a pop culture that arguably no longer exists. McKee thrives on the dress codes for music, whether it’s mods, rockers, punks or something else. Moody compositions, bold linework, and bright colours tell a story of identity throughout his work. Recent work posted on his website include several stunning drawings of the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible, Sheffield. McKee has also been chosen by his very own celebrity patron, Noel Gallagher, to represent him at Gibson Guitar’s “Guitar Town” event in London this summer. McKee will paint a 10ft fibre glass guitar for the Oasis star which will then be auctioned for charity.
McKee is cool, very cool, and with prints starting off at as little as £20 his work is still affordable.
