
One of the UK’s largest contemporary art centres in the UK has just launched in Nottingham and if you haven’t experienced it yet, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Nottingham Contemporary is a bright, bold new space with four galleries which will house exhibitions from the UK and around the world.

I’m inspired by our new ’shed’ created by Paul Barton at Roomworks. It’s been lovingly designed and created by Paul and his team and is a thing of beauty with the sweet smell of cedar cladding and living, green ‘eco’ roof. It’s been a real pleasure to watch creative people at work on something that’s practical and useful, yet reinvented in such a pleasing way. I stepped outside with my coffee this morning and stroked its wooden sides. Good design does that to you.
I just wanted to make people aware of a fantastic organisation/project that I was lucky enough to experience recently and I would encourage anyone with (or indeed without) children to try and get to see it.

I was really sorry to hear that one of the key figures in British Design had passed away.
David Mellor was not only famous for his stainless steel cutlery designs, but for his simple and iconic designs which are still in use today – including the traffic light system, bus shelters and the square-edged pillar-box.
